About me

Hi, everyone!  I’m Bakabee and welcome to my beehive on the internet, Bake with Bakabee!  Baking is my absolute joy and passion!

Even before I was a baker, I have always loved to make things. As a primary music and English school teacher, much of my working life was involved with helping to grow young minds, finding the right recipe to produce happy and purposeful children. Creating resources and materials for my students, I found myself more and more engaged with the fascination of designing and making things.

I love cooking in general and baking in particular.  I believe that good food, prepared with love and attention can draw people together and wrap them in sensory heaven.

How I started

As my interest in designing and making things grew, one day I decided to try some baking. For those of you who have no history of baking in your families – that was me! I always say, if I can do it, you can do it and that’s why. I started from scratch so anything is possible if you just have a go. My first creation was a Nutella Tear and Share Bread – it tasted wonderful and it was all gone in less than a day! Inspired by this success, I began to experiment with making all sorts of things, both sweet and savoury. I soon came to realise that my real joy lies in baking and ever since I have been hooked.

Following my dream

For some time, I practised baking on my school colleagues. The positive feedback from friends and family, supported by some professional courses, helped me refine my techniques to a point where I decided to take a break from my teaching career and follow my dream. I launched Bakabee, I can still remember the excitement. An online baking business had been my dream for a long time, so to turn this dream into a reality has been a wonderful adventure and personally very fulfilling. I wasn’t confident when I started out but I have learned to trust myself and my ability to deliver quality bakes for special occasions.

There is quite a lot of pressure when you start – your bake will be in everyone’s photos of the birthday party, shower, wedding, forever! You really don’t want to mess it up for people and you want it to taste as good as it looks. Slowly, my confidence grew and I learned not only how to bake but how to market my products. One day, someone called me an entrepreneur and I realised that this is exactly what I had become. I didn’t really set out to be here but I am so happy with the way the journey has panned out and now I have a much clearer idea of what I want to achieve.

Running my own business is one of the best things that I have ever done, it has been an adventure and it has done a huge amount for my self belief. It’s a whole different ball game from being a teacher although there is still that desire to inspire others to challenge themselves and grow. Nothing good happens without the courage to stick your neck out and risk failure but I truly believe never that you should never give yourself an excuse to limit your own potential. Believe in yourself, get out there and do it, follow your dream.

Stay with me and start baking

Since 2022 I have lived in the UK with my husband and now focus on blogging and producing tutorials on my popular YouTube channel ‘Bake with Bakabee’, where I can continue to share my baking passion with all of you.  In this little corner,  I will be sharing ideas, thoughts and, of course, delicious recipes for you to try yourself!

My goal is to inspire you with baking that is both easy to approach and exciting to produce. I want you to be inspired to bake for yourself, your friends and your family.  Believe me, home bakes always taste better!
